We make sense of what others overlook.

Making sense of AI — from the inside out.

The Present Company develops research, advisory, and education products focused on AI, technology, and modern systems.

We examine how incentives, power, and emerging technologies interact, including their ethical and real-world implications.

We help individuals and organizations move beyond surface-level narratives to understand what is actually at stake, and what follows.

Founder and Principal

Jeanette Ponder

Jeanette Ponder doesn’t theorize about AI from the outside. After a 23-year career in fashion production, she spent four years working inside AI systems — in prompt engineering, model training, and tasking — before founding The Present Company. A Sarah Lawrence College alumna with a Python certification and a current member of the 1871 startup accelerator in Chicago, Jeanette brings a rare combination of technical fluency, humanistic training, and practitioner instinct to one of the most consequential conversations of our time. Her work helps organizations move past surface-level narratives to understand what AI systems actually do — and what that means in practice.
